Privacy Notice

What we collect, why, and your rights, in plain words. Structured under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).

1. Who is responsible

The FLY8 team decides how your data is used. Contact for privacy questions: Contact support.

2. What we collect

  • Email and an account id, so you can sign in with a one-time code.
  • Phone id: a random id the app creates for your phone.
  • Phone check id: a number Android gives this app on your phone (Android ID). We keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy, so each phone gets one free trial. It is not your IMEI or phone number.
  • Network check: a scrambled (hashed) copy of your internet address at the moment you start the trial, kept to spot many accounts made from one place. It is never used to block you on its own.
  • Phone label: your phone's model name, so the team can recognise a new phone when approving it.
  • App version, so we can ask you to update when needed.
  • Access key use: which key you redeemed and when.
  • Topics opened per day, to give you your daily topics.
  • Study activity events, for example "app opened" or "quiz finished".
  • Mistake reports you choose to send us.

Your study progress (answers, scores, plan) is stored on your phone. A backup file is made only if you export one yourself.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or microphone. We use no ads and no third-party trackers or analytics SDKs.

3. Why we collect it

  • To let you sign in and use your access key.
  • To keep one phone per account and prevent key sharing and content copying.
  • To give each new learner one free trial and stop trial abuse.
  • To give you your daily topics and make the app work.
  • To see which parts of the app work and to fix mistakes you report.
  • To improve the app and the study material, and for statistical studies and research about how people learn for the board exam (see "Statistics and research" below).

Your consent (you agree when you sign in) and what we need to provide the service you asked for (contract). You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your account; the app may then stop working for you.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the app:

  • Supabase, a hosted database service, which stores account and activity data. Servers in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Google (Gmail), which sends your sign-in code emails.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts this website, and GitHub, which hosts the app download.

We may disclose data if the law or a valid order requires it.

6. How long we keep it

Trial checks (the phone check id and the network check) are kept while your account exists.

Older records are deleted automatically every day:

  • Each answer you give: 90 days (we keep only the totals, such as how many were right per topic).
  • App activity and screenshot attempts: 60 days.
  • Scrambled network addresses: 30 days.
  • Closed bug reports: 30 days after they are closed.
  • Messages: 180 days. Challenge and battle results: 90 days.

Your account and study progress are kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we remove it.

Statistics and research

We study how learners use FLY8 Study so we can make it better and learn what helps people pass. For this we use combined numbers, such as how many learners got a topic right, study time by hour of the day, or which questions are often missed.

  • We remove names, emails and phone details first, and report only groups, never one person.
  • We may share or publish these combined, anonymous findings (for example in a school research paper or a report on board-exam preparation). Nothing published can point to you.
  • We never sell your data, and we never share your personal details for research without asking you first.
  • Do not want your data in our statistics? Ask us through Contact support and we will leave it out.

We follow the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173).

7. Your rights

Under RA 10173 you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your data is used;
  • access your data;
  • object to the processing of your data;
  • ask for erasure or blocking of your data;
  • correct (rectify) wrong data;
  • data portability, meaning a copy in a common format;
  • claim damages if you were harmed by wrongful use of your data;
  • file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

To use any of these rights, email Contact support from the address on your account and say what you need. We will reply as soon as we can. We aim to reply within 15 days.

8. Security

We use a hosted database with access limits, encrypted connections, and sign-in by one-time code. No system is perfectly safe, and we cannot promise it. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the NPC as the law requires.

9. Children

The app is meant for adults studying for the board exam. Users should be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian agree. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree before you use it.

10. Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top. For big changes we will tell you in the app.
